To what extent do these adverts conform to or subvert traditional gender roles? To what extent do they conform to or subvert traditional gender roles?
Consider textual details (mise en scene, music, voice over etc) in your analysis.
This advert can easily be seen as a sterotypical male advert and it should be. This is because it is targeted a young boys who like toys. It does this in very obvious ways, for example by first appearance the mise en scene everything is green. This is a typical boy colour. Also the voice over is a young teenager male who describes the toy in a very exciting, radio presenting kind of voice which conotes excitement. He uses voices like 'cool' which are usually associated with boys. The most important pice is the editing and special fx. The diting is fast paced and edgy which will jeep the young boys attention. The special fx's make you seem like you have special abilities.
The little pony is clearly fitting in with the typical stereotypes of wat a little girl likes. Its mise en scene has pin in the background and lots of colourful bright images, especially the the ponies are all stereotypes of a little girl. The music in the background is far more relexed and calming and the voice that narrates it is also calm and 'mothery' in my opnion. Finally the special fx are not of action but sparkles and glitter.
