4. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
List all of the equipment you used and how it helped you – what would you have had to do if you didn’t have access to it?
In the construction of our film trailer we include new technologies such as the apple imac which we edited and added music to the trailer from, the imac has enabled us to produce higher quality editing and fast and effective transition from shot to shot, the imac also provided us with sound effects and we were enable to manipulate a voice to make a voice over . we used a limux camera with a high quality image to film digitally which was a lot easier to transfer on to the mac when we had filmed, as the camera was of high quality it enabled us to keep the action clear, and easy to watch for the audience. we also used the camera to take the still shots of me for the poster and the magazine front cover and these were very clear and detailed photos, With out these technologies we wouldn't be able to produce such a high quality of work and would of took us a lot longer to make also the audience wouldn't have as much interest in our trailer and ancillary products.
Within research we have used media technologies such as the Internet to provide information on film trailers, posters and magazine covers.
Websites like www.YouTube.com provide video clips that helped us think of ideas for an action film, such as camera angles, mise en scene, type of music and how to act. google images gave us ideas for film magazine covers and for film posters and helped us keep the generic conventions of each of these, the images helped our research a great deal as we found an image and copied the same properties for example the godfather film poster. www.Jamendo.com provided us with the copy right free music that we added to our film trailer and the song we chose which was 'lukhash psyche' fitted the genre of music that we wanted for our film trailer and what we had researched. The access of the Internets also enabled us to publish our work on to the blog and other websites such as face book and YouTube where we gained successful comments off Friends and teachers without the access to the Internet our research would have been made ten times harder it has provided ideas from hundreds of films for our trailer and ancillary tasks
In the evaluation stages technology helped us again as we used screen grabs to capture parts of our trailer and then we commented on lighting, sfx, mise en scene and editing. we have evaluated on our blogs which is another advantage of having access to the Internet, we can log on to our blogs on any computer with Internet access allowing us to get more work done. without this the whole evaluation would be written by hand and screen grabs would have to be from a photo and then stuck on to paper to Analise.
To conclude the new advances in technology enabled us to produce a higher quality finish to our product. research is made a lot easier thanks to the access of the internet and the mass of media services it provides, we canlook at and analise film trailer, film posters and film magazine front covers to help influence our work.

Evaluation
In my media coursework i had decided to share the workload with one other person, Josh Plant. I decided to create to-do lists, and became the main organiser. We planned our week schedule very well and always had something to do, therefore we worked efficeintly.
We have answered the first question together and is on our shared blog.
How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
In order to make our ancillary tasks a good part of our campaign to promote our film we have had to a lot of research into the generic conventions of what a good action teaser trailer, film poster and film magazine front cover should be.
We decided to get our poster done, we researched into classic films such as "The Godfather" in particular. This poster struck us as a great basis for our own poster. We used a similar, simple black and white colour scheme to show the contrast between good and evil. We used this for both of our ancillary tasks because it is important to keep similiarity so not to confuse the genre of the film. We did this maily becuase we found most films did this. For example the godfather uses a very similar DVD case colour scheme to its poster. We made sure that both film magazine and poster used the space well. By this i mean i made sure that the main character of the film was always occupying most space on the paper. When i looked at other action posters this is exactly what i found and that all focus was aimed on the character. Everything else on the other posters were a lot smaller or duller and did not attract attention. We have successfully achieved this in our poster as well.
The Film magasine front cover also had to considered this. We did not make the image of the main character as big but it is still clear that it is the most important piece. We used the same colour contrast to make the big, white font stand out and draw your attention to the text. Also we made sure to use catchy headlines "Josh Connor whoi is the man behind the name?", this would definately grab the audieces attention due to this man being in the dark, making the audience think who is this mysterious man?
I think overall our poster was good and fits into the convention of a action film poster, it may of took as a few goes to get in right but it was worth i tin the end. If i could change anything it would be the pose of what the main character is doing. Despite is being very mysterious and powerful i would of like to use a low angled shot to create the illusion of power and really play on the convention of an action film.

Evaluation - What have you learned from your audience feedback?
What have you learned from your audience feedback?
I have learnt a lot from my audiece feedback, we mainly learnt that our feedback was all positive and therefore our intila draft was good. Despite this positive feedback we decied that our piece coud be vastly improvd and contunued to add far more to it.
We have attempted to get feedback for our media by posting in on facebook at first.
This proved unsuccefull!
We then decieded to post it on facebook.

we have found the institution for our trailer all we need to to do now is add this to the start of the trailer, and then add credits and release dates to the end of it and i am very pleased with how our trailer has came out, the instittion is mgm and you can see we have chube choped this off another video and we need to fade out the music at the end and add the release dates and we could add a sound effect when that appears.

Institution
We have decided to use MGM Studios for our institutions, we have used tubechop to create this piece and it will be used at the start of the teaser trailer.
Basis Of Poster
This is our final poster, our film magazine will be following shortly. We have decided to do our poster in black and white to give a more dark and omnious feel to it. Our inspiration for this was the Godfather poster, because we liked the way it shows contrast and it makes the image stand and out more therefore showing that the character is most important.Thursday, 3 December 2009

Music
I have listened through the music that josh has suggested and have decided that it should be our final choice for our music in the background for our teaser trailer. We have chosen it becuase it is fast and has an upbeat tempo. This means it will keep up with our fast editing and short clips.

Memento chronicles two separate stories of Leonard, an ex-insurance investigator who can no longer build new memories, as he attempts to find the murderer of his wife, which is the last thing he remembers. One story line movies forward in time while the other tells the story backwards revealing more each time - quote from imdb
this movie is a good example of post modern media as the film is set non linear
in linear order the film would play out with first his wife being assulted and raped and he the cracks his skull and suffers from memory loss. lennys wife doesn't beleive him and he gives her too many insulin shots and kills her.

Collective Identity
To what extent do these adverts conform to or subvert traditional gender roles? To what extent do they conform to or subvert traditional gender roles?
Consider textual details (mise en scene, music, voice over etc) in your analysis.
This advert can easily be seen as a sterotypical male advert and it should be. This is because it is targeted a young boys who like toys. It does this in very obvious ways, for example by first appearance the mise en scene everything is green. This is a typical boy colour. Also the voice over is a young teenager male who describes the toy in a very exciting, radio presenting kind of voice which conotes excitement. He uses voices like 'cool' which are usually associated with boys. The most important pice is the editing and special fx. The diting is fast paced and edgy which will jeep the young boys attention. The special fx's make you seem like you have special abilities.
The little pony is clearly fitting in with the typical stereotypes of wat a little girl likes. Its mise en scene has pin in the background and lots of colourful bright images, especially the the ponies are all stereotypes of a little girl. The music in the background is far more relexed and calming and the voice that narrates it is also calm and 'mothery' in my opnion. Finally the special fx are not of action but sparkles and glitter.

Pulp Fiction
In the past couple of weeks we have been watching and trying to analyse 'Pulp Fiction'. This film is about some htimen trying to deliver a suitcase. In its time what was considered extremerly funny but was very contreversial.
Seven Kinds of People
In my opinion by looking at this powerpoint it has made me realise that if i were to make a film or a teaser trailer you need different types of people in order to keep it interesting. The powerpoint talk about different types of people these include:
-The explorer is driven by a need for discovery. They respond to brands that offer new sensations. They will explore the differernt flavours.
-The Aspirer is driven by other people's perception rather than their own opinion. Their core need for life is status so they are drawn to an attractive brand.
-The succeeder has self confidence and tends to be very organised. For brands they would often seek the best becuase that is what they feel they deserve. Their core need for life is control.
-The reformer is very different in comparison to the explorer as they will not buy things just because they are new. The reformer searches for enlightenment.
- The mainstream are the largest group whitin the 4C's. They respond to big established family brands. Their core need for life is security.
- The struggler lives for today and strives on visual and physical sensation. They seek escape.
- The resigned are mostly the older generation who's values have been built up over time. Their brand choices are driven by a need for safety and for economy so they choose what is familier to them.
I have realised by looking at all of these types of people that my characters in my film should be the struggler and the succeeder. These are people that strive to succeed and will do so no matter what. This has also helped me with thinking about my audience. It has given me a insight into what type of people would like to watch my film.

Connor, i have found a song on jamendo.com that i think would work well with our film it is a rock/metal track called LukHash (SH music)
Psyche .
See if you like it there are loads of songs that are good but this starts subtle as we wanted it to the kicks in a few seconds after
